This week, we interviewed with one of our own surf athetes Luke Fuhrman to get some insite for those who dont know him. This young 15 year old hails from Hunington Beach CA. At the early age of 7 he started shredding the knar due to his friends and family who surfed. When he started getting serious, went to surf camps and got private coaches as well to improve himself. When asked what he loves most about surfing, he awnsered "just the amazing feeling of learning a new trick, or getting that perfect wave". He competes in CCSA comps as well as on his schools varsity surf team. Other things that interest Luke is skating, BMX, and riding dirt bikes. After a long good day of surfing, the best food he would choose to have would be Pick Up Stix. (And might i just say that i just went there for the first time and OMG... Amazing. Probably not healthy, but good all the same). And after a very nice interview, we asked what would be the perfect day for this kid. His response was, Wake up, go surf his brains out, hit up Pick up Stix and end it off with some girls. Short and simple, got to like that. Well this is Luke Fuhrman everyone. Look for him in the future to come up through the ranks. Keep it up Luke.
Please welcome London Hudson to the team! London is ten years old and has been skating for four years. He has skated in Spain and all over Canada. London's proudest moment was the time he landed his first air of about four feet, although currently, he is known to go bigger. He hopes to skate in New York this year. Look for him in the Vans Pro Pool Party at the end of summer.
Our youngest athlete, Scout Swing age 8, is focusing on his goals for 2013. He started racing almost two years ago and is planning for a big year. In 2012 he was the Triple Crown Series champion in the super peewee class. Scout has been riding many tracks, mainly his home track at Perris Raceway, in preparation for the World Minis in Nevada. He hopes to make road trip and ride all Arizona tracks this summer.

New comers, in every sport there are up and comers trying to make it big in the sport they compete in. Now tell me one person who doesn’t like new comers, people that you have never heard of that just show up and blow the doors off the competition. Focus Apparel's very own Colton Aeck AKA Colt 45 is one of those people. He races in the 450 Amateur Pro class and currently trying to get his pro card to start 2013 racing the AMA Outdoor Nationals. He has recently been killing it in his races minus a few bobles here and there. I would definitely keep him in your scopes for the future. He has recently made headlines being interviewed by Transworld Motocross online. Check out this link below and see what colton has to say to the interviewer Steve Emter. http://motocross.transworld.net/1000139452/features/muscle-milktwmx-race-series-profile-colton-aeck/
Focus Apparel has recently added some designs to the womens' collection. We were excited to start the photo-shoot and get some pictures to share with you. Here's a glimpse of a day with us: It started by taking a quick drive down PCH to the beach for an afternoon. We walked around until we found the perfect spot. We snapped some photos and got a little sun too! Then we drove around passing strawberry fields until we found the ideal place. A place tucked away with a great view of the mountains, like it was saved for us. After several hundred shots we called it a day. Check it out!
Over this past weekend Focus Apparel Bmx Athlete Robert Mcilvaine came to town for a competition in Burbank, Ca. Having dominated AM championships over the years, he seems to be moving quickly to acheiving his goals much like his idols James Stewart and Jeremy McGrath. Over the weekend Focus Apparel headed to Phoenix, AZ for the 10th and final round of the WORCS Series. Focus Apparel athlete Taylor Robert was able to ride away with a win in the pro class and many other athletes capped off the year with much success.
For the first Pro race on Saturday, all eyes were on Kurt Caselli, who had a demanding point lead coming into the weekend. A top ten finish was all it took to clinch the championship. Off the start it was Cole Martinez with the holeshot with Brown, Abbott and Garrison in tow. Focus Apparel riders Justin Soule and Taylor Robert didn’t get the best of starts so they had their hands full. Half way through the hour plus a lap moto Robert was able to move into second and Soulé was running fifth. When the checkered flag came out, Brown was the first to cross the finish line, followed by Robert and Soulé. The last few laps were very hectic for Soulé but he was able to make two key passes to get him on the podium.
Later in the day Sunday the Pro women’s class lined up to do battle. Once again, a championship was on the line, but this time for Focus Apparel athlete Kacy Martinez. Just like Caselli, Martinez came into round 10 with a commanding points lead and all she had to do was finish this moto. When the gate dropped it was newly signed Focus Apparel athlete Sherri Cruse with the holeshot followed by Martinez and Bash hot on her heels. The three would stay in this running order for the remainder of the race. The second place finish for Martinez was more than enough to wrap up the championship as she won her third WORCS Championship.
Sundays Pro race put the same three guys out front battling; Brown, Soulé and Robert. This time however, Focus Apparel athlete Taylor Robert got the best of Mike Brown and went on to win the moto. Brown finished a close second with Soulé rounding out the top three. The win gave Robert the overall on the weekend with a 2-1 performance. Brown finished second with a 1-2 and Soulé went 3-3 for third.
In the Pro 2 class, Focus Apparel athlete Justin Seeds already wrapped up the WORCS Championship at the previous round. A bad start made finishing on the podium a hard task for Seeds but he put on a hard charge and ended up finishing 4th. Cooper Hall another Focus Apparel Athlete put in a great ride finishing 9th.
In the Pro 2 Lights class, Kevin Weisbruch got the Maxxis Holeshot and looked well on his way to win his first moto win. A few mistakes in the WORCS Cross section cost Weisbruch some time but he was still able to finish a solid 2nd. This marked Weisbruch’s first podium in the Pro 2 Lights class. Our other Pro 2 Lights rider Ty Tremaine ran into some technical difficulties with his bike and ended up finishing 13th.
Congratulations to all Focus Apparel athletes who raced hard this weekend; we are looking forward to 2012!
